Education and Experience
I was born and reared in Belleville, Ill. After graduating from high school I was employed as a secretary by the Norfolk & Western Railroad in St. Louis. After a railroad merger I was promoted and transferred to Roanoke, Va. and subsequently to their New York City office.
After getting married I left the railroad and went to work as a secretary in the Demarest, N.J. school system. During this time I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Education followed by a Master’s in Learning Disabilities at William Paterson University, Wayne, N.J. Upon completion of my graduate work, I was employed as a Teacher Consultant on the Child Study Team in Englewood, N.J., performing educational testing.
I retired in 1995, moving to Bradenton Florida where I began a decorating business. My business consisted of decorating model homes for various local home builders. After 6 years, I officially retired.
I have served as Secretary on the Board of Directors, Chairman of the Welcome Committee and Liaison on the Social Committee at Bay Club here in Terra Ceia. Being an active bridge player I re-established Contract Bridge and started a Duplicate Bridge group at the clubhouse along with a weekly Mah Jongg Group. These activities have steadily grown attracting more residents each year.
I am an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Bradenton serving as both an usher and a greeter.
I am the oldest of four siblings, a sister and 2 brothers, born to my mom and dad, who both passed away shortly after they moved to Florida.
I met my husband Charlie while working in New York, and we were married in 1971. We have one daughter, Alison, who is married and living in New Jersey with her husband Ron and our two grandchildren, Kate 9 and Alex 11.
After residing in Demarest, New Jersey for 22 years, Charlie and I moved to Bradenton, Florida in 1995, eventually settling here in Terra Ceia in 2010.
We enjoy traveling and playing bridge and trivia within the community.
I love living here and look forward to taking a more responsible role. By serving on the CDD Board of Directors, my goal is to be a positive force in our neighborhood, making sure that Terra Ceia remains the lovely and well-maintained community that brought us here.
